Statement on Azerbaijan’s attack on Nagorno-Karabakh
Wednesday, September 20, 2023 | At least 32 people have been killed and 200 others wounded in a military operation by Azerbaijan in the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region, according to media reports.
This comes after nine months of blockading the Lachin Corridor, isolating the ethnic Armenians in Nagorno- Karabakh. During this time, Azerbaijan has denied the people of Nagorno Karabakh freedom of movement and access to essential goods, food, and medicine.
The Global Peace 2030 (GP2030) strongly condemns the military escalation in Karabakh & deplores loss of lives. These actions are worsening an already dire humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and undermine prospects for peace. Azerbaijan must de-escalate now.
We call for the immediate halt of all military actions. It is clear that the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh can only be resolved peacefully, through dialogue.
