Europe Peace Foundation Statement on the Humanitarian Crisis in Sudan

Madrid, Spain – October 15, 2025

The Europe Peace Foundation, dedicated to ending violence and human suffering through peace, expresses its deep concern over the devastating humanitarian crisis in Sudan. Since April 2023, the conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces has caused tens of thousands of deaths and displaced over 14 million people, making Sudan one of the world’s most critical humanitarian crises. Regions such as Darfur, Blue Nile, and Kordofan face ethnic violence, indiscriminate attacks, and destruction of essential infrastructure, leaving millions without access to basic services or protection.

Food insecurity affects over 13 million people, while the collapse of the healthcare system has intensified the spread of diseases such as cholera and malaria. Human rights violations—including attacks on civilians, sexual violence, and child recruitment—are widespread. The Europe Peace Foundation calls on the international community to ensure immediate humanitarian access, protect civilians, and hold perpetrators accountable. Peace in Sudan is not only an urgent humanitarian need but a moral imperative requiring coordinated global action.
