President KC Meets Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management of South Sudan
Juba, 15 September 2026 — President of the Europe Peace Foundation and Founder and Initiator of Global Peace 2030, Mr. Sappan KC Hum, held an official meeting with Hon. Albino Akol Atak Mayom, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management of the Republic of South Sudan, on Monday, 14 September 2026, at the Main Hall of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management in Juba.
During the meeting, President KC thanked the Honourable Minister for receiving him and his delegation and for the warm welcome extended during his official peace mission to South Sudan.
President KC explained that his visit forms part of the Global Peace 2030 mission to promote lasting peace, national unity, reconciliation, humanitarian cooperation and non-violent solutions to conflict. He recognised the resilience of the people of South Sudan and stressed that lasting peace is essential to addressing humanitarian challenges, displacement and the needs of refugees and vulnerable communities.
President KC formally presented his special proposal for the declaration of South Sudan as a Peaceful Nation and a proposed National Peace, Reconciliation and Development Roadmap towards 2030. He also presented a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of the Minister’s contribution and continued service in the humanitarian field.
President KC emphasised that humanitarian challenges cannot be separated from the wider pursuit of peace. Continued conflict and instability increase displacement, deepen humanitarian needs and place additional pressure on communities and institutions. He therefore called for stronger national and international cooperation to protect civilians, assist displaced people and refugees, support vulnerable communities and create conditions that allow people to rebuild their lives in safety and dignity.
He encouraged the Government of the Republic of South Sudan to advance an appropriate national process towards declaring South Sudan a Peaceful Nation. President KC explained that such a declaration would not mean that every national challenge had already been resolved, but would demonstrate a strong commitment to rejecting violence, resolving differences peacefully and placing human dignity and national unity at the centre of the country’s future.
President KC also stressed the importance of inclusive dialogue and reconciliation in addressing the underlying causes of humanitarian crises. He reaffirmed the readiness of the Europe Peace Foundation and Global Peace 2030 to support transparent dialogue, mediation, humanitarian cooperation and peacebuilding efforts involving the Government, communities and other relevant stakeholders.
He further called upon political leaders, communities and all parties to reject violence and inflammatory language and to support peaceful political processes. President KC said that reducing violence and strengthening national dialogue would directly contribute to reducing displacement and humanitarian suffering.
During their discussions, President KC and the Honourable Minister exchanged views on the humanitarian situation in South Sudan, the challenges facing displaced people and refugees, and the importance of connecting humanitarian action with long-term peace, reconciliation and development.
Hon. Albino Akol Atak Mayom welcomed President KC and expressed appreciation for his visit and international peace initiative. The Minister encouraged President KC to continue his work for peace and welcomed efforts that can contribute positively to humanitarian cooperation, national dialogue, reconciliation and stability in South Sudan.
President KC thanked the Honourable Minister for the constructive discussion and reaffirmed his commitment to working with the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, the Government of the Republic of South Sudan and other stakeholders in support of humanitarian action and lasting peace.
“Humanitarian suffering cannot be separated from conflict. When we build peace, we protect lives, reduce displacement and give families the opportunity to rebuild their future. South Sudan has the opportunity to send a new message of peace and hope to Africa and the world,” President KC stated.
President KC was accompanied by members of the Europe Peace Foundation and Global Peace 2030 Representation Office in South Sudan, including Mr. Amute Francis Lobalu Tongoyiamoi, Head of the Representation Office; Mr. Mborimbuko Simo Kalesto, Deputy Head; Mr. Thirik Lang Mijak, Finance and Administration Officer; Ms. Anna Suzan, Humanitarian Affairs and Protection Officer; Mr. Paul Lorem Aminathia, Project, Grant and Compliance Officer; Mrs. Nyabalash Juaj Bol, Health Programmes and Safety Officer; Ms. Flora Lokudu Latio, Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding Officer; Mr. Moses Jamaica Sakondo, Social Dialogue and Mediation Officer; and Mr. Sunge Emmanuel, ICT and Communications Officer.
President KC has been on an official visit to the Republic of South Sudan since 13 September 2026 as part of his Global Peace 2030 mission. His programme in Juba includes engagements with senior government officials and representatives of communities, youth, civil society and refugee communities, with discussions focused on peace, reconciliation, humanitarian concerns and cooperation towards lasting peace by 2030.
