Mr. KC Calls on Congo, Rwanda, and Burundi to End the Conflict and Engage in Peace Talks
Statement
Monday, December 22, 2025 – The ongoing conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo has forced thousands of refugees to flee into neighboring Burundi. Fighting between the Rwanda-backed M23 rebels and the Congolese army continues around the eastern town of Uvira and other areas. Every day, thousands of people are crossing the border on foot and by boat.
I strongly urge all parties involved to immediately cease hostilities and come to the negotiating table to engage in meaningful peace talks. Violence is not a sustainable solution; dialogue, cooperation, and reconciliation are essential for lasting stability.
The people of these countries deserve peace, security, access to healthcare and education, economic opportunities, and development. These principles are central to my Global Peace 2030 agenda, which envisions sustainable peace and prosperity for all communities.
– Sappan KC, President / Global Peace 2030
