Mr. KC Appeals for an Immediate Ceasefire and Peace Talks as the Russia-Ukraine Conflict Continues
STATEMENT
Thursday, 2 July 2026 – I am deeply concerned by the recent Russian attack on Ukraine’s capital, which reportedly killed many civilians and injured dozens. I call for an immediate ceasefire. Attacks, killings, and destruction are not the solution.
Over the past years, I have written more than ten letters to both President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, urging them to agree to a ceasefire and peace talks. I have also offered my services as an independent mediator to help facilitate a peaceful dialogue.
The people of both Russia and Ukraine need peace now. Ordinary citizens on both sides want to live in safety and dignity. It is essential that leaders listen to the voices of their own people and to the international community. War and violence belong to the past. A new generation in both Ukraine and Russia deserves a peaceful future. This conflict cannot produce lasting winners-only more loss of life, destruction, displacement, and suffering.
I once again appeal to both leaders to choose dialogue over violence and to begin meaningful peace negotiations without delay. The world wants peace, not more war and conflict. I remain ready to support and facilitate ceasefire and peace talks as an independent mediator, free from the interests of any government, if both parties agree.
As part of my Global Peace 2030 Agenda, I remain committed to promoting lasting peace and supporting all efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict through peaceful dialogue.
