Mr. K.C. Statement on the Sudan Ceasefire and Call for Peace Talks

Friday, November 7, 2025 – I welcome the recent agreement by Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces to a humanitarian ceasefire and their expressed readiness to engage in talks on a cessation of hostilities. This is an important step toward ending the fighting in the city of El-Fasher in the western Darfur region and across Sudan.

The conflict has devastated Sudan — killing tens of thousands of people, spreading hunger throughout the country, and displacing millions from their homes. I call on all parties to the conflict to come together for peace talks in a spirit of cooperation and good faith.

I stand ready to assist and help mediate a path toward a lasting peace in Sudan. I urge all sides to engage in meaningful dialogue to halt the fighting and resume negotiations toward a sustainable political solution.

This effort is in full alignment with my Global Peace 2030 Initiative, which promotes peace, dialogue, and stability in Sudan. The people of Sudan deserve peace, stability, and the opportunity to build a better future — free from violence, hunger, and preventable disease.
