Mr. KC’s Urgent Statement on Unacceptable Violence in Iran

Statement

Saturday, January 10, 2026 – I am deeply and strongly concerned about the killing of dozens of civilian protesters in Iran as violence continues across the country. The loss of life is deeply troubling and calls for restraint, accountability, and respect for human dignity.

I have repeatedly raised my voice regarding the actions of the Iranian leadership, which has systematically silenced the voices of its own people. There is a serious lack of respect for fundamental human rights. Iranian authorities continue to treat their citizens inhumanely, while many Iranians are forced to live under extremely difficult social and economic conditions.

The people of Iran are demanding their fundamental rights: freedom of expression, the ability to peacefully raise their voices, economic development, employment opportunities, and lasting peace. These legitimate demands align fully with my Global Peace 2030 Agenda, which stands for dignity, justice, and peace for all.

Violence against civilians is never acceptable. The international community must not remain silent.
