PRESIDENT KC MEETS MINISTER OF PEACE BUILDING OF SOUTH SUDAN
Juba, 15 September 2026 — President Mr. Sappan KC Hum held an official meeting with Honourable Stephen Par Kuol, Minister of Peace Building of the Republic of South Sudan, on Tuesday, 15 September 2026, in Juba, as part of his official peace mission to the country.
During the meeting, President KC formally presented his Special Proposal for the “Declaration of South Sudan as a Peaceful Nation and Official Recognition and Support for Global Peace 2030,” addressed to the Honourable Minister.
President KC presented his vision for South Sudan to advance towards becoming a peaceful and stable nation by 2030 and explained that the proposed declaration would represent a national commitment to peace, reconciliation, dialogue and non-violence.
During the discussions, Honourable Stephen Par Kuol expressed his appreciation for President KC’s peace proposals and his support for the proposals presented during the meeting. The Minister indicated that President KC’s proposals were acceptable and welcomed continued cooperation towards advancing the proposed Declaration of South Sudan as a Peaceful Nation and the broader objectives of Global Peace 2030.
President KC and the Minister also discussed national reconciliation and healing, including strengthening national cohesion, social integration, trust among communities and peacebuilding efforts across states, counties and local communities.
The meeting further addressed the importance of implementing peace initiatives at the grassroots level, with cooperation among the Ministry of Peace Building, state-level institutions, civil society, communities and international partners.
Honourable Stephen Par Kuol also welcomed President KC and the Europe Peace Foundation/Global Peace 2030 to contribute, where appropriate and in coordination with the relevant authorities, to future peace dialogue, consultations and mediation efforts aimed at bringing parties together and supporting lasting peace in South Sudan.
President KC welcomed the Minister’s positive response and reaffirmed the readiness of the Europe Peace Foundation and Global Peace 2030 to support dialogue and mediation impartially and transparently, while respecting the sovereignty, Constitution and territorial integrity of the Republic of South Sudan.
Honourable Pia Philip Michael, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Peace Building, together with other senior officials of the Ministry, also attended the meeting.
During the engagement, President KC explained that his visit forms part of the Global Peace 2030 mission to promote lasting peace, national unity, reconciliation, human rights, dialogue and non-violent solutions to conflict. He reaffirmed his commitment to cooperating with the Government and people of South Sudan, civil society and relevant regional and international partners in efforts towards lasting peace.
President KC was accompanied by members of the Europe Peace Foundation and Global Peace 2030 Representation Office in South Sudan, including Mr. Amute Francis Lobalu Tongoyiamoi, Head of the Representation Office; Mr. Mborimbuko Simo Kalesto, Deputy Head; Mr. Thirik Lang Mijak, Finance and Administration Officer; Ms. Anna Suzan, Humanitarian Affairs and Protection Officer; Mr. Paul Lorem Aminathia, Project, Grant and Compliance Officer; Mrs. Nyabalash Juaj Bol, Health Programmes and Safety Officer; Ms. Flora Lokudu Latio, Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding Officer; Mr. Moses Jamaica Sakondo, Social Dialogue and Mediation Officer; and Mr. Sunge Emmanuel, ICT and Communications Officer.
President KC has been on an official visit to the Republic of South Sudan since 13 September 2026. His programme in Juba includes engagements with government institutions, senior officials, Parliament, communities, youth, civil society and refugee communities, with discussions focused on peace, reconciliation, humanitarian concerns and cooperation towards lasting peace by 2030.
