President KC Calls for an End to Conflict and Urgent Peace Talks in Niger
Statement
Thursday, 11 September 2025 – Hundreds of civilians have been killed, summarily executed, and massacred by Islamic State–affiliated militants in Niger in recent days, with many more forced to flee their homes.
Reports indicate that armed groups are deliberately targeting the civilian population in western Niger, committing horrific abuses. At the same time, Nigerien authorities are failing to adequately protect communities in the Tillabéri region, near the borders with Burkina Faso and Mali.
Ongoing armed conflict, violence, and economic instability are driving a deepening humanitarian crisis in Niger.
In light of these tragic events, I urgently renew my call for all parties to the conflict—including the government and armed groups—to come together for immediate, inclusive peace talks. The path of violence has brought immeasurable suffering and instability. It is evident that sustainable peace cannot be achieved through warfare, where there are no true victories—only devastating losses.
The people of Niger long for peace, security, and development—free from fear and suffering. As part of my Global Peace 2030 Initiative, I remain committed to supporting and facilitating peace talks in Niger.
The time to act is now- for the sake of the people of Niger and the stability of the entire region.
– Sappan KC, President / Global Peace 2030
